About me

I have worked as a Clinical Psychologist for over 30 years and in this time I have dealt with a wide range of clients of all ages and from a variety of cultures.

Qualifications

  • Studied for 7 years at three universities in South Africa.
  • Graduated with a Masters Degree in Clinical Psychology from the University of Port Elizabeth (now Nelson Mandela Metropolitan University).
  • Registered with the Psychology Board of Australia (PBA) through the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (AHPRA).
  • Member of the APS (Australian Psychological Association) and the APS Clinical College.

My practice

My practice is located at 2 Gemstone Boulevard, Carine

Experience

I have been in Australia since 2008 and worked initially at a group practice in Joondalup, which was a wonderful way to become familiar with how psychology is practiced in Australia. I started my own private practice in 2010 at the Okely Medical Centre in Carine and moved to 2 Gemstone Boulevard, Carine in 2018.
I have had some experience of in-patient work at a psychiatric hospital in the earlier phase of my career in South Africa, but have worked exclusively in Private Practice since 1995

Approach

I aim for a holistic approach, liaising with referring doctors, specialists, insurers and other treating professionals.

I  introduce my client to a Cognitive Behavioural and Neuropsychological Approach with Acceptance and Commitment Therapy, Schema Therapy and Interpersonal Therapy (among others) in my work, but I do adjust my approach as I see fit, depending on the needs and personality style of the client.

Current developments

I am open to new ideas in psychotherapy and keep myself informed of new developments, both professional and therapeutic.
